76 Year Old Male Complains About
Headaches
A 76-year-old gentleman presented to the emergency room of a local medical center complaining of headaches and mental status changes. A CT scan was ordered and read by an off-site radiologist. The radiologist recommended further evaluation to rule a CVA. The attending er physician did not receive the report and medicated the patient with Lovenox, an anticoagulant which exacerbated intracranial bleeding causing irreversible brain injury and the patient’s untimely demise. The case resolved in a claim for $650,000.0
